Where does our Organic Agave Syrup come from?

Our Organic Agave Nectar is an all-natural sweetener with a low glycemic index. It is made from Agave plants harvested naturally and organically in Jalisco, Mexico. The syrup is made through a process of harvesting and extraction. The 7-10 year old plants are cut down when fully ripe, then have their sap extracted. The sap is then filtered and heated at a low temperature of 48 °C to allow its carbohydrates to be broken down into sugars. The finished product is then ready-made for packaging and delivery as bulk agave nectar, private label or our own retail brand. Our Organic Agave Syurps are GMO & allergens-free, gluten-free and vegan.

Nutritional and Health Information

Agave nectar is a great ingredient for use in food and beverage production. It is highly soluble in most foods at low temperatures and has a neutral, sweet taste that works in lots of different types of food. Depending on which flavour of Agave, you will gain differing tastes and this can cater to many different products. It works well in a huge variety of foods and drinks, such as beers, wines, soft drinks, baking, confectionary, dairy, among many others. It can also be used as a vegan substitute for honey and can replace common table sugar for most meals and recipes. Read our guide on using Agave nectar in cooking and baking.

Agave syrup is 1.4 times sweeter than refined sugar, meaning that you can use less to achieve the same sweetness level, making it healthier in this aspect. It has a very low Glycemic Index (of 39 or less) which means that its carbohydrates are broken down and used more slowly than many other sweeteners, giving you a smoother, stabler energy source with less spikes.
